Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Nigeria Following Fatal Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos announced on late Wednesday. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on December 29th, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his team members.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
Joshua had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, representatives confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.
“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the loss of his two dear friends.”
This update on his health arrives after the global fight fans had expressed condolences for the fighter in the aftermath of the terrible crash.
